The declaration by Kilifi Women Representative Aisha Jumwa to challenge the incumbent Willy Mtengo for the seat has seen the relationship between the two deteriorate, with personal attacks punctuating their rallies.

Jumwa, who is ODM Party leader Raila Odinga's staunch defender, has accused Mtengo who came into office in a by-election of insulting her in funerals and rallies.

"He claims he will water me out. But I am telling him that he is the one who will be watered out and I will show him at the polls," Jumwa said last week .

However, in a quick rejoinder, the incumbent accused the women representative of engaging in insults and dared her to vie against him.

According to Mtengo, his development record during the short period he has been in Parliament is enough to earn him a full term come August.

The lawmaker has also stated that he is in ODM to stay amid claims that he may bolt out of the Raila-led party over fear that he may be 'short-changed' during the party primaries.
