Malindi MP Willy Mtengo has insisted he did not lose the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) nominations to Kilifi Women Rep Aisha Jumwa. Mtengo, who spoke on Saturday, alleged that the exercise had massive irregularities, adding that he will not accept the results. The aspirant, who has only served for a year as the area MP, said he is likely to contest for the seat as an independent candidate or cross over to the Jubilee camp if that's the only way to ensure Jumwa loses the seat. "I might go to the poll as an independent candidate or help Phillip Charo. We will make sure Aisha Jumwa does not become Malindi MP," he said, as quoted by The Star. The MP lamented that some of the polling stations were closed for the better part of the day, adding that his agents were harassed by his opponent’s supporters during the exercise, a move which he said affected the outcome. "Voting started late and was closed early in most of my strongholds. In some areas, my opponents roughed up my agents. Some aspirants were also barred from accessing polling stations,” he said. Mtengo also asked ODM leader Raila Odinga and his Deputy Hassan Joho to cancel the results. "The nomination was not transparent. We want justice. The results should be nullified," he said. The legislator further pointed an accusing finger at Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi for not intervening into the matter, adding that he will have no choice but to seek refuge elsewhere."If Kingi won’t intervene, we are prepared and will take our stand somewhere else," he added.
