Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital CEO Dr Wilson Aruasa has urged the national government to increase money allocated to the hospital to ensure efficiency.

He says the current allocation is a drop in the ocean that cannot meet their expenditure.

"In the 2016/2017 budget we only received Sh5.6 billion despite us requesting for Sh8 billion. This cannot sustain the hospital," he said during a press briefing on Monday.

He added, "We receive about 1,000 outpatients and 1200 inpatients on a daily basis. We have overstretched facilities forcing patients to share beds leading to poor services."

He, however, urged patients with outstanding balances to use the 50 per cent waiver to clear their outstanding bills.

"The hospital has areas of Sh450 million that dates back to 1995 and since we announced the waiver in January only Sh2 million has been collected," he said.

"We are holding 1,000 title deeds, 500 logbooks and 35,000 identity cards. Only 5,000 identity cards have been collected," noted Aruasa.

He urged Kenyans to take National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) raising cards for them to get quality health care service.
