Construction of the new Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) will commence at the end of the year.
MTRH CEO Dr. Wilson Aruasa said the hospital will be among the largest and with modern equipment in East and Central Africa.
"The construction of the hospital will take a duration of 3 years where phase one will consist of 2,000 in patient bed capacity,” he said in Eldoret town, Wednesday.
“Second phase will see an additional 2,000 inpatient bed capacity constructed. The cost will be made public when the final design is over. Once the new hospital is complete the old one will be handed to Uasin Gishu County government," he added.
He reiteriated that the government has set aside 200 acres at GK prisons in the outskirts of Eldoret town where the ultra modern referral hospital will be constructed.
“Once complete it will help decongest the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital that caters for patients in Western region, North Rift and neighboring countries,” noted.
