The Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) has signed an MoU with Elgeyo Marakwet County to improve service delivery.
"The MoU will see Elgeyo Marakwet County Government financing health care services and us offering training to their staff on cancer and renal," MTRH CEO Dr Wilson Aruasa said.
He added that county governments should ensure that their hospital are fully equipped to avoid over flooding of MTRH, which is only for referral cases.
"We receive 1,000 patients per day from other counties and yet our bed capacity only caters for 800 patients forcing them to share beds," he said.
Speaking after signing the MoU at the hospital premises on Tuesday, Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Alex Tolgos pledged full support and implementation of the MoU.
"We have given health care first priority and our partnership will ensure that our people get high quality health care at a low cost," he said.
He however, urged Kenyans to register for NHIF which will guarantee them quality health care at a low cost.
