MTRH recently employed about 100 nurses to work on contract as a mitigation for the ongoing nurses strike.

"In medical services we always focus on Education, Exposure and Experience and those nurses employed by MTRH on contract have education but without exposure and experience which is endangering lives," Orangi said.

The nurses vowed to go on with their strike and asked the President-elect Uhuru Kenyatta to direct the Salaries and Renumeration Commission (SRC) to provide the relevant salaries structure so as to end their strike.

"We congratulate the President on his reelection and request that he directs the SRC team to submit its salary structure to MTRH as this will active the process of bring this strike to an end," added Orangi.

MTRH nurses have been on strike demanding for the implementation of a 2015 CBA.

The Hospital's management has however declined to implement the CBA insisting that they must get get an approval from the Sarah Serem-led commission.
