New ultra-modern Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Eldoret town whose construction is expected to begin in January 2018 will consist of over 500 housing units that will be used by medical practitioners.According to MTRH CEO Wilson Aruasa, the first priority for the houses will be given to intern doctors. This, Dr. Aruasa said, was part of the long-term measures the hospital is putting in place to ensure the safety of their medical staff."The new hospital will have 500 unit houses of 1 to 3 bedrooms houses. We want our medical practitioners to be able to attend to patients without any fears even if they are called during odd hours," he said on Wednesday, during the funeral service of intern doctor Boutrous Mbugua who was recently murdered. "If doctor Mbugua was staying at the hospital he could not be dead. I went to send a message of condolence to the family and friends of the deceased. We will ensure the safety of the employees at all costs," he added. This comes after MTRH doctor Boutrous Mbugua was found dead last Sunday in his house a few kilometers from the hospital after being hit by a blunt object by unknown people. The construction of a new multi-billion 2000 bed capacity MTRH hospital is set to begin in January.
