Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) will construct children’s hospital in the proposed new ultra-modern hospital whose construction is set for January 2018.
MTRH CEO Dr. Wilson K. Aruasa said this will ensure children get high-quality medical services.
“In phase one of the construction of the new 2,000-bed capacity MTRH, 240 beds will be dedicated to children and in the second phase the same amount of beds will be dedicated to children, we want to have over 500 beds meant for children by 2022,” he said in Eldoret town, Thursday.
“Currently our shoe for Africa children hospital is overstretched admitting over 171 children per day instead of 131 children which leads to poor services,” he added.
He, however, refuted claims that the hospital was discharging children because its Christmas and New Year celebration saying that those are just rumors that do not carry any water.
“We don’t discharge children because of its Christmas or New Year celebrations, we discharge them because they have completed their medication,” noted Dr. Aruasa.
