Former Deputy Prime Minister and ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi has come clear of his shock at CORD's co-principal and ODM party leader Raila Odinga’s utterances apparently aimed at the Luhya community and which the former deputy prime minister termed as 'demeaning'.
Speaking on Friday, Mudavadi expressed his dismay after learning that during his visit in Busia, Raila had actually branded the Luhyas carrying about with the Mulembe Nation narrative as stupid.
This, the ODM leader said on Thursday, July 21 in a Rally when he dismissed the agenda carried out by ODM rebels led by Ababu and his entourage labeling them wapumbavu na wajinga (stupid).
Thus, Raila is believed to have joined the individuals insulting the Luhya community among them the Deputy president William Ruto who is reported to have also termed luhyas as stupid.
“Mtu ambaye anakuja kusema ati sisi kama Mulembe nation. Hiyo Mulembe nation iliundwa lini? Watu ambao wananena siasa kama hiyo ni wapumbavu ,” Raila had said; Which translates to, "The individuals saying that 'we as Mulembe nation', when was this Mulembe nation formed? Those peddling such politics are stupid"
Despite the Luhya community having endured great humiliation in supporting Raila, Mudavadi said that it is unbelievable that all they get are insults for appreciation.
“Honestly, I am shocked; was this truly the same Raila that the community has supported for over a decade or is he a reincarnated Joseph Kamotho of the ‘watchmen and cooks’ fame?” Mudavadi said.
