ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi has called upon all Luhya members to come together and support him as he takes up his new responsibility as the community political don.

Speaking on Saturday at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega County where he was named the most popular leader in the region, the former Deputy Prime Minister also accepted the challenge, further urging other leaders from the region to support him.

"I accept this challenge with humility and i will fully serve you. I also urge all my fellow leaders including Ababu Namwamba, Amos Wako and Kenneth Marende to join the brigade," said Mudavadi. 

The leader emerged the top after clinching 39 votes, beating Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula and Kakamega County boss Wycliffe Oparanya who both ganered 30 votes in a research conducted by University of Nairobi lecturers and masterminded by COTU. 

The meeting which was attended by other Luhya leaders was however snubbed by Wetangula and Khalwale.
