Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi has condemned the chaos that marred the recent visit by ODM party leader Raila Odinga in Mumias as two rival groups clashed.
The fracas pitting Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali's supporters and Jubilee Party activist Rashid Mohammed on one side and Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya and his supporters on the other side left two members of the County Assembly seriously injured.
According to Mudavadi, the violence could not be said to be of any significance to the victims of police brutality in the area.
He noted that it was only politicians who were out to show the political might disguised as showing solidarity to the residents of the area who have in the past few days been manhandled by brutal police officers searching for guns stolen from a police station.
Two ODM MCAs, Rocky Omwendo and Urbinus Oduori recorded statements last Friday at the Mumias police station after an incident where the area Governor's vehicle was vandalized during the melee.
Washiali is considered a key Jubilee man in the area that is considered an ODM zone.
However, President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto have shown an insatiable appetite to make inroads in the populous region.
Cord leader Raila Odinga is yet to comment on the issue in which turned out to be one of his worst receptions in the area in the recent past.
