Musalia Mudavadi has said he is ready to work with Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord), if only the party will be willing to support his presidential bid in next year’s elections.
The Amani National Congress leader told journalists after a meeting with other top Western leaders in Nairobi on Wednesday.
“I am ready to fly Cord’s flag if they support (my presidential bid). I will be happy and very grateful,” he said.
The leaders, who included Moses Wetangula and Bonny Khalwale and Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo are said to be planning on how to unite the region, which has a rich voting bloc and voted almost to a man for Raila in last year’s elections.
The region, which has always been considered a Cord stronghold has seen a recent change, with Cord leaders from Western led by Ababu Namwamba breaking ranks with the party.
Mudavadi was a key member of ODM in 2007 and was part of Pentagon, the top organ that formed the party, before he decided to vie for the top seat in the last general elections.
