A political battle ensued on Sunday in Western Kenya, when Sports Cabinet Secretary Mr Rashid Echesa exchanged bitter words with Amani National Congress party leader Mr Musalia Mudavadi over the 2022 succession politics.
While Mudavadi is pushing for the Mulembe community to nominate one of their own in 2022 presidential contest, Echesa urged the community to forget the seat and concentrate on supporting the Jubilee government because he feels the community has no real leader who can command national appeal at the moment.
"If Musalia wants to become president he should call all the stakeholders in Western and show his Sh200 billion for presidential campaigns and also show his networks in Kenya. This matter of lying to each other regionally has to stop," said Echesa.
"I am new in politics and I have been trying to revive Mumias but there are leaders who have been here for years and are doing nothing. I told the President the company is in bad shape," added Echesa.
When his time to speak came, Mudavadi urged Echesa not to consider a real presidential candidate by the might of his financial treasure chest.
"One would be very silly to spend such an amount of money on presidential campaigns. How will they recover the money unless they plan to engage in corrupt deals once in power," said Mudavadi.
