A Jubilee party MP has hinted that Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi may be Deputy President William Ruto running mate during the 2022 presidential election.
Sirisia lawmaker John Waluke said on Saturday that Mudavadi is well positioned to deputise Ruto and clinch the presidency, but added that it will only happen if the ANC leader defects to the ruling Jubilee party.
Waluke was speaking in Namwela High School during a fundraiser attended by Ruto on Saturday.
"NASA is a ship that is slowly sinking. This goes to my brother Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi, join the winning team- Jubilee," the vocal MP said amid applause.
"You (Mudavadi) have a better chance of becoming Ruto's deputy in 2022. The house you are in now in rickety and will collapse soon," he added.
Mudavadi has hinted that he will vie for the presidency in 2022 under the NASA coalition. His co-principal and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has also expressed interest in contesting for the country's top seat during the same election.
An MoU signed between Ruto and President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2013 says Uhuru and the Kikuyu community will back Ruto presidential bid during the poll.
There are, however, reports that Ruto's deputy may come from Central Kenya. There are also reports that the Jubilee administration is coating both Mudavadi and Wetangula to join the ruling coalition.
