Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi has refuted claims that the much-touted opposition outfit dubbed the National Super Alliance (NASA) is planning to create new government positions to accommodate its senior leaders.
Mudavadi said the alliance will work within the constitutional guidelines.
“We are alive to the current Constitution and the positions it has created. We are going to the election under this Constitution and if any other positions must be created, it can only be after the election and within the provisions of the current Constitution and we realise that some of these changes require a referendum," he said on Tuesday during an interview with Radio Jambo.
It has been widely anticipated that the opposition may create additional government positions that would include the post of the Prime Minister and deputy Prime Minister in a power-sharing deal that seeks to avert any fall out within Nasa.
The alliance is yet to settle on a presidential flag bearer, with Cord leader Raila Odinga, Wiper's Kalonzo Musyoka, Mudavadi and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula all seeking the opposition ticket.
He exuded confidence that the opposition will win the forthcoming elections.
