In a statement released to newsrooms on Monday, Mudavadi said Uhuru's speech was meant to hide the incompetence of the government and dupe innocent Kenyans.

According to Mudavadi, he was left in deep shock to see the president praising his leadership when a common citizen has nothing to smile about.

"I listened to the president’s speech with shock," he said.

"Where figures in billions of shillings were mentioned, poor Kenyans don’t see or feel what these billions did but know they go into feeding the ogre of corruption."

Mudavadi also said he anticipated the Head of State to address the issue of corruption instead of beating around the bush.

"I expected the president to personally disavow corruption," he added.

"But true to character of having washed his hands off the fight against corruption, he virtually avoided its mention. Not strangely, he said the theft at NYS was a “challenge” that has instead helped NYS achievements."

Mudavadi has affirmed to work with Cord leader Raila Odinga and others to send UhuRuto home in 2017.
