Amani National Congress party leader Musalia Mudavadi has for the first time spoken on reports that Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka could leave the National Super Alliance (NASA).

There have been reports that a serious unity crisis has hit the Opposition outfit, with just five months to the general election.

Wiper party leaders have been on record saying that Kalonzo must be named NASA’s presidential candidate or they walk out of the coalition.

Mudavadi on Wednesday dismissed the assertions that NASA will disintegrate before the August 8 polls.

He said NASA is a people's movement and cannot be shaken by the exit of an individual.

"NASA is not built on personalities. Anyone seeking to go it alone will be the one to lose. Such a move will not break us," said the former deputy prime minister.

Mudavadi (ANC), Raila Odinga (ODM), Kalonzo (Wiper) and Moses Wetang'ula (Ford-K) are all seeking the NASA ticket to take on President Uhuru Kenyatta come August 8.

In response to reports that Kalonzo may walk out of the Opposition, Mudavadi said none of the four co-principals have plans of joining other parties.

Tuesday, National Assembly minority leader Francis Nyenze said ODM must honour the 2013 MoU Raila signed with Kalonzo.

“So unless the presidential candidate, the flagbearer, is Kalonzo, I don't see us moving anywhere,” Nyenze said.
