His position contradicts his boss, Raila Odinga, who at an interview with BBC, said that the coalition will ensure elections take place by August this year.

"We shall push for fresh polls by August after reforming our electoral system," said Odinga, moments after taking oath as people's president.

Lately, Mudavadi is fighting betrayal claims following his decision to skip Raila's oath, a move that has led to backlash from his supporters and Western Kenya leaders.

In an interview with NTV, Mudavadi said, most leaders and Kenyans are not ready for another election as early as August.

"I was asking our MPs, have you made provision for fresh presidential elections? They said no. Issues like these in my view are financed by citizens and that is impossible now."

However, Mudavadi maintained that the coalition shall continue pushing for transparency and reforms within the electoral systems.

He added: "My appeal is singular and clear, let us look forward (2022). Let us start figuring out whether our strategy was wrong or right."
