The Amani National Congress (ANC) party has said its leader Musalia Mudavadi is on his way to take over Opposition from NASA leader Raila Odinga.
According to a memorandum signed between the NASA affiliate parties, Raila was expected to serve for one term before handing over the mantle to his deputy Kalonzo Musyoka of Wiper.
But Kakamega Senator-elect Cleophas Malala has said that ANC will not take anything less than Mudavadi being the Opposition's presidential candidate in 2022.
"We have resolved that Mudavadi will be on the presidential ballot paper in 2022. If any person wants to form a coalition with Mudavadi, he/she should be ready to support Mudavadi," said Malala.
His sentiments were shared by ANC elected leaders who promised to work round the clock to see that Mudavadi gets the regional support base before going national.
Earlier, Bungoma senator Moses Wetang'ula had spoken at Christ the King Catholic Church in Bungoma and said he was the only person fit to inherit Raila's shoes.
