Water Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa has faulted the decision by opposition alliance NASA co-principals Musalia Mudavadi and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula to shelve their presidential ambitions in favour of ODM Party leader Raila Odinga.
In a telephone interview with The Star Newspaper on Wednesday, Wamalwa described said the duo's decision amounted to betrayal to the Luhya Community, urging the Western Kenya region to instead back President Uhuru Kenyatta's reelection bid during the forthcoming general elections.
“The community prevailed upon me in 2013 to abandon by presidential ambitions so that I could allow the two (Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula), who are my seniors, to vie for the seat. But they have abandoned the quest for somebody else,” Wamalwa observed.
“You should be careful because it seems our two senior brothers might be out to auction you to support Raila for their own personal gains,” he added.
Both Mudavadi and Wetangula had expressed interest in the the NASA presidential ticket.
However, the two decided to shelve their ambitions to back former premier Raila Odinga who is giving the presidency a fourth stab.
They are poised for senior government positions should NASA win the presidency.
