Speaking on Wednesday during Citizen TV’s Power Breakfast show, Muluka dismissed claims that Raila will retire from politics and endorse Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka come 2022.

“Provided that Raila will be alive and healthy in 2022, his name will be on the presidential ballot paper,” said Muluka.

The political strategist said Raila’s move to take oath as the people’s president was a strategy to ensure he remains relevant ahead of the 2022 polls.

“The thing we saw in Uhuru Park was part of that self-engineering, self-repackaging and remaking one’s self relevant,” he added.

Raila took oath as the people’s president during a ceremony held in Uhuru Park, Nairobi on January 30.

Muluka further advised Kalonzo to pave his own path and begin strategising on his 2022 State House bid.

“There is a sense in which people tend to believe that Raila will not run in 2022 so you are supposed to tiptoe around issues to make sure you don’t rattle his supporters, which is a waste of time,” said Muluka.

He argued that Kalonzo will not inherit Raila’s support base because the ODM party leader will be making his fifth stab at the presidency in 2022.
