Amani National Congress Party has started a sensitisation programme in Uasin Gishu county to educate people  the importance of acquiring national Identity Cards and registering as voters to prepare for the next general election.

Speaking in his office on Wednesday, Uasin Gishu County ANC chairman Saina Nechu said the aim of the sensitisation exercise is to recruit more members ahead of the 2017 general elections.

“In the last four months, were have recruited nine thousand new ANC party members and we are targeting to recruit more than one hundred thousand new members before 2017 in Uasin Gishu county," he said.

Mr Nechu said the party forecasts at strengthening before 2017. He urged Uasin Gishu residents to support ANC by registering in large numbers as voters "since the party that will form the next government come 2017."

“I urge the national government to fast track the process of issuance of national Identity Cards to allow Kenyans to registered as voters in order to participate fully in deciding the leadership of this country come 2017 general elections," he said.
