Amani National Congress (ANC) has insisted it is still supporting the planned inauguration of NASA leader Raila Odinga on December 12, 2017.
Party chairman Kelvin Lunanai said ANC does not recognise President Uhuru Kenyatta's administration because it was acquired through 'illegal' means.
"The decision not to recognise the presidency will not stop but we will pursue it in spirit through the scheduled swearing of Raila Odinga on the Jamhuri Day," he said.
In an opinion piece published by The Standard, Lunanai said NASA will move on with plans to make Raila president, arguing he won the August 8 presidential election.
"Nothing is illegal in it as some are portraying it. We are ready to use all legal and political means to ensure that sanity returns to the electoral system in this country," the party boss said.
ANC's endorsement for Raila's inauguration comes despite the Musalia Mudavadi-led party threatening to pull out of the opposition alliance following a row over National Assembly and Senate leadership positions.
On Thursday, the party hinted at quitting NASA if it would not be given the deputy minority leader's position.
ANC demanded the seat be given to Lugari MP Ayub Savula.
