The Amani National Congress (ANC) party led by Musalia Mudavadi has suffered a blow days after the August 8 polls. This is after one of its members, David Makali, resigned from the party after a humiliating defeat in the Bungoma senatorial race.Makali was defeated by Ford Kenya's Moses Wetangula. "Being a registered and paid life member, I hereby tender my resignation as a member of ANC effective today," Makali's resignation letter dated August 18 read in part. The letter was received by ANC's secretary general Geoffrey Osotsi on September 8.Before joining ANC, Makali was the secretary general of the Labour Party of Kenya which is headed by former Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba. The veteran journalist fell out with Namwamba after they disagreed on the presidential candidate to support in the August elections. He quit LPK on March 20, 2017 and joined Mudavadi's camp.
