Under fire Iebc chairman Wafula Chebukati on Wednesday lay before Kenyans the challenges he is going through in his bid to oversee a credible repeat election on October 26.
Among the issues, he pointed out was that most of the motions he had tabled in plenary had been defeated by his commissioners who seemed to be voting as a block and maintained that with the situation as it is he could not guarantee a free fair and credible election.
But in a swift rejoinder, Nasa co-principal Musalia Mudavadi asked the election boss to step aside reminding him that history would judge him harshly if he agrees to preside over a flawed process.
The Amani National Congress party leader reminded Chebukati of fellow Iebc chairmen before him whom Kenyans have held solely responsible for their misgivings during election forgetting that they worked as a commission.
"My brother Chebukati, do not forget Chesoni, do not forget Kivuiti in 2007 and Isaack Hassan in 2013.Kenyans will hold you solely responsible if you go ahead and preside over sham elections. They will not look at the other commissioners who served with you.Do the right thing, resign", he said.
Mudavadi was speaking during a Nasa rally at the Kamkunji grounds on Wednesday.
