An ODM official has laughed off speculations that the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) is planning to name former deputy prime minister Musalia Mudavadi as its torch bearer for the 2017 polls.
Edwin Sifuna, the party's national appeals tribunal chair, said the debate on whether Cord is planning to have the Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader fly its flag is totally misplaced and is being peddled by agents of the Jubilee regime who had earlier rejected Mudavadi and is now prescribing him to others.
"We should not forget that Musalia wasn't 'good enough' to fly the Jubilee flag in 2013 yet those who rejected him now prescribe him as the best for Cord. This is plain ridiculous," he wrote in his opinion piece in the Star.
The advocate further added that by introducing the lie that Cord leader RailaOdinga prefers a Mudavadi candidature was simply meant to cause disenchantment among his partners Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula in a bid to have them ditch the opposition outfit.
He, however, prescribed Wetangula as a sure bet for Cord if they intended to have a candidate from the Luhya community.
