[Photo|Musalia Mudavadi]The National Super Alliance (Nasa) co-principal and presidential campaign manager Musalia Mudavadi has called for calm, as the country awaits October presidential election. In a short communication, Wednesday morning, the ANC party leader also urged for respect for the Constitution, even as differences continue emerging in the country over the poll."As Nasa we want to appeal for calm and respect for the rule of law so that the country holds even as we are going through these challenging times," he said. This comes after the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), through its chairman Chief Justice David Maraga, strongly defended the Judiciary against attacks and petitions from Kenyans, and particularly politicians.Maraga said they had received attacks ever since the verdict that saw the Supreme Court nullify August 8, presidential election, in which President Uhuru Kenyatta was declared winner.Mudavadi's message also comes after another internal memo from the IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati to CEO Ezra Chiloba leaked, Tuesday. The document, signed by Chebukati, to Chiloba, demanded dismissal of ICT Director James Muhati, Paul Mugo - ICT coordinator and Boniface Wamae - ICT Officer, at the Commission, for allegedly failing to ensure running of smooth ICT mechanisms leading to the nullification of the August presidential election.Mudavadi, had on Monday maintained that Nasa would not participate in the fresh poll with IEBC, as currently constituted."Nasa does not trust IEBC to conduct the repeat elections. Unless our irreducible minimum reform demands are met by the IEBC, we shall not have a repeat presidential election," he said, September 18.
