[Photo/Musalia Mudavadi]"END AND NEW YEAR MESSAGE: ANC REDEDICATES 2018 TO THE DREAM OF A SUPER KENYAN NATIONOn my own behalf, as well as on behalf of my family and the ANC Fraternity, I wish my compatriots a very Happy New Year, free of the State driven drawbacks of the ending year. God bless you. God bless Kenya.I am pleased to send out this message of greetings and goodwill to my fellow Kenyans, wherever you may be within the country and beyond. The ongoing festive season of Christmas and end of year activities has given us a good opportunity to meet family and friends in joyous celebration of life. This season has also been a time for reflection on our values and charity as a people, and on the health of our nation. We are grateful for the good things and pray for a wholesome year ahead. Indeed, we also have the opportunity to take stock of the past 365 days and to think and plan for the year ahead.2017 has not been kind to Kenyans. It was a period that was characterized with economic and livelihood hardships, and culpable political turmoil. It was a season of industrial unrest, food shortages, road accidents, institutional collapse and folding up of promising businesses and enterprisesThe one hundred day doctors’ strike, together with a series of other strikes by nurses threw the health sector into chaos. The health of our people suffered great setbacks with unnecessary loss of limb and life. Strikes by teachers and university dons slowed down learning and diluted the quality of education. It is regrettable that all this could have been averted, if only there had been a responsible and caring servant government, willing to listen and dialogue with the citizens. The pick of the basket, however, was the unmatched fraudulent Presidential election, by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) in cohort with Jubilee. The IEBC served Kenya a massive blow. It is a blow, a served bitter cold dish that has left the country staggering for a long time to come.Accordingly, Kenya today stands divided along visceral ethnic lines. Negative ethnicity is at its worst in the history of our country. There is pulsating ethnic suspicion and animosity everywhere. Hitherto fragile ethnic relations are giving way to open enmity, at the behest of an uncaring Jubilee government. People have lost jobs just because they belong to certain tribes. Others cannot get employment or quality service because of their surnames, or family names. This disgraceful state of affairs must be arrested in 2018.We must save our country from destruction. We at ANC will be at the forefront of national reconstruction and reconciliation in the New Year and beyond. We regret wanton killings by the Police, at the behest of the Executive. We regret the return of suppression of democracy and the shrinking space for freedom of conscience, thought and expression as manifested in harassment of journalists, emasculation of civil society and invasion of private space and violation of the individual by the State.Equally, we regret the invasion of the Legislature by the Executive and conversion of Parliament into a State rubber stamp, through the incongruity of the so-called ‘tyranny of numbers.’ This is not what we envisaged when we promulgated the Constitution of Kenya 2010. We had in mind the picture of a free, fair and equitable society. Unfortunately the Jubilee government is irredeemably bent on negating and reversing all the gains and promises of the new Constitution, once hailed as the most progressive constitution globally. The ANC is concerned that the Executive is deliberately frustrating Devolution. We are alarmed by the bullying of independent-minded Governors who are focused on the call of duty, rather than playing the sycophant. They have suffered lowly political blows from the Executive. Indeed, the Executive that has failed to rise above disgraceful public outbursts of anger and insolence against any progressive Kenyan. We are also witnesses to a sinister ploy to starve County Governments of funds, in order to bring them to their knees.Going forward, ANC rededicates itself to the dream of a Super Kenyan Nation. We remain committed to a free and equitable society where the fruit of our labour is the source of our pride. We rededicate ourselves to justice and the rule of law as our defender. We remain opposed to the Big Man’s Syndrome and self-service in government. Our calls for dialogue, together with our sister parties in the National Super Alliance (NASA) has been spurned. In 2018, we will come down heavily on bad governance in whatever guise it presents itself. The New Year is going to be the Year of Accountability. We will push for accountability everywhere in public life. To this end, we dedicate ourselves to fight for electoral justice in Kenya with fresh robustness and ensure that it is achieved. As has often been said, choices have consequences. Those who choose to underrate us and ignore our peaceful overtures must prepare to meet us in other arenas. The choices before us are numerous and varied. We will weigh our options and work with our partners in NASA to restore Kenya to order. The year 2018 will also be the year of reconstruction and rebooting of our own party, ANC. To this end, we look forward to building a forceful, disciplined and agile political outfit with clear vision for the country. We will be announcing our programme for membership drives and related activities as we begin the year.HON MUSALIA MUDAVADI, EGH,ANC PARTY LEADER."
