ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi admits that he has been silently seeking to have Raila Odinga's planned inauguration cancelled.
For a couple of weeks now, a section of media reported perceived differences within NASA, with top luminaries denying periodically.
"There is no split in NASA about swearing-in. We are in course and I guarantee you that I shall take oath," said Raila at a past meeting.
But sources had intimated Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia and Moses Wetangula were all opposed to the swearing-in.
Surprisingly, at Homa Bay on Saturday, Mudavadi admitted to have plotted to prevail upon Raila to drop the swearing-in idea.
"I have in the past restrained Raila from taking oath together with Kalonzo," said Mudavadi amid cheers from the crowd.
He added: "The pressure in now too much and we have no alternative but to swear in our leaders."
Among fears NASA principals have been trying to contain is backlash from their supporters and the international community.
US envoy Robert Godec has been pushing for dialogue with Raila remaining defiant about the oath taking.
