Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi has gone silent in the political circles and political pundits are busy guessing what he may be up to ahead of 2022 when Kenya will hold another general election.
The former Vice President is a canning politician whose silence may loosely be translated to mean he is crafting a political deal that may surprise some of Kenya's seasoned politicians including opposition chief Raila Odinga.
Mudavadi has been keen on setting up an alliance with Deputy President William Ruto who has been busy traversing the country looking for support as he builds his political base ahead of the next polls.
From the time Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula was ousted from his Senate Minority Leader position, both Mudavadi and Wetangula have seemed to drift towards Ruto, a man facing an anthill task of succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Ruto has from the beginning of the year visited the former Western province- Mudavadi's home turf more than four times since the October 26 repeat poll and there is a likelihood that Mudavadi may teem up with Ruto during the 2022 polls. Western is a vote-rich region that both Uhuru and Raila must keenly watch.
If Mudavadi and Ruto succeed teaming up alongside Wetangula and Wiper leader Kaonzo Musyoka in 2022, the three may give Raila and Uhuru a run for their money. Ruto has also recently visited Coast region for three consecutive times calling for the region to support his presidential bid.
It will, however, remain a riddle to crack on who between Ruto, Mudavadi and Kalonzo will carry the presidential flag if the three teamed up.
