The ANC leader's message comes three days after revelations emerged that the NYS had lost another Sh9 billion- more than one year- after another scam in which the youth service lost close to Sh1 billion when Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru was the Devolution Cabinet Secretary.

"The heist at NYS is truly heartbreaking. It speaks of blatant, planned and deftly executed theft of public funds by people who should be custodians of public interest," Mudavadi said in tweet on Thursday.

"All the officers around this issue should have the decency to step down to allow full investigation of the matter."

On May 14, it was reported that corrupt officials at NYS had set up dummy firms and forged tender documents which they used to steal money at NYS.

The officials are also said to have exploited vulnerabilities in public fiance computers known as IFMIS to execute one of the latest frauds in which the taxpayer lost Sh9 billion.

Public Service and Youth Cabinet Secretary Margaret Kobia has already promised that all those found culpable in the Sh9 billion NYS scandal will be prosecuted.
