Nairobi Deputy Governor Jonathan Mueke has accused Senator Mike Sonko of hatching a plot to 'destroy' Nairobi by making it ungovernable.
Mueke cited the incident in which Sonko was involved in a verbal exchange with Governor Evans Kidero at the Senate- a development that almost degenerated into a fist fight.
He at the same time defended Governor Kidero saying the county chief is determined to institute policies that will help transform the livelihoods of the people of Nairobi.
In a video posted on Dr Kidero's official Facebook page, Mueke accuses Sonko of failing to support the governor in his quest to develop the county.
"There is nothing to hide," he says.
"A person who is elected to protect Nairobi and by extension to protect Governor Kidero was the one who was fighting him at the Senate; the Senator of Nairobi."
On Wednesday June 15, during Senate's Public Accounts Committee session, the two almost fought when Sonko provoked Kidero by calling him a 'murderer'.
The incident forced session chairman and Kisumu Senator Anyang Nyong'o to suspend the committee meeting in which Kidero had been summoned to respond to allegations of irregular procurement procedures at the county government.
"His main mandate after being elected Senator of Nairobi is to protect Nairobi as a county," Mueke added.
"But he went to the Senate to destroy Nairobi by physically attacking the governor. But nevertheless the Senate session was adjourned because of his unbecoming behaviour."
