Nairobi County government has once again rewarded its bright and needy students with hefty scholarship funds.
On Monday, the deputy governor, Jonathan Mueke issued scholarship funds amounting to over sh7.9 million to 179 students from the lowly endowed families within the city-county. In a colourful event, the deputy governor also took the chance to mentor the student-beneficiaries encouraging them on the importance of hard work and commitment in education.
Mueke advised students to make good use of their study time, noting that opportunity only knocks once and never to come back for a second time. Students were also advised on the importance of being focused in life, with emphasis on the need of them to shun drug abuse that is a threat to bright dreams from the creative and more productive youth in Kenya today.
While congratulating his deputy for the good work in the county, Governor Kidero on his Facebook page thanked Mueke for overseeing the whole disbursement process and his commitment to ensuring that bright and deserving students benefit from the initiative. The governor reiterated on his earlier statements that his government is fully committed to providing quality education as mentioned in his manifesto.
