At least two people lost their phones to muggers in Nakuru on Tuesday night when the town experienced a massive blackout.
The two met brutal boys as they rushed home at Moi Flats when power went off.
"They were obviously waylaying innocent passersby. They just accosted us and punched us, roughed us up and removed our phones," one of the victim said.
It was a group of about five young boys smelling dirt, she added.
In a flash of seconds, they lost their phone.
"It was dark and we didn't know if they were armed. We just let them go because, you never know (what they are armed with)," she said.
The two, however, did not even mind reporting the incident as they felt 'it would be wasting our time'.
Elsewhere at the Central Business District, at Kenyatta Avenue outside CK Patel building, a lady called for protection from Tuktuk drivers lamenting a group of boys were blocking her way and pickpocketing her.
"They asked for my yoghurt, now one is trying to steal from my pockets," she said.
George Kariuki was also not lucky. He is nursing a broken tooth and bruised lips.
"I didn't know there was no power. I alighted at JB and decided to walk to Ngomongo. Before reaching the centre, a guy on a motorbike stopped and asked why I was drunk in January," Kariuki told this writer.
A scuffle ensued, his took was broken and the attack stole Sh250.
