West Mugirango Member of Parliament James Gesami has opened a special school for the mentally challenged in his constituency.
Speaking on Tuesday at Nyakeore where he was handing over the school to the management, Gesami said that this was to ensure that those children with mental deformities get an equal opportunity of learning with those who are normal.
The school was built through the CDF kitty and the Ministry of Education (MoE).
Gesami further asked the parents whose children face such problems not to shy off from taking them to the facility for their special training.
According to the MP, the facility will have its own hospital, and he went on to ask for political tolerance amongst politicians.
The MP also asked security agencies to beef up security in villages as the election period approaches.
Similar sentiments were echoed by Bonyamatuta ward representative Robinson Mocheche.
