Fake doctor, Mugo wa Wairimu, who is facing sexual assault charges, will be detained for 10 days for skipping court session and witness interference through social media posts.
On Wednesday, Nairobi Chief Magistrate Daniel Ogembo ordered Wairimu to be remanded in police custody until September 2, awaiting ruling on the cancellation of his bail terms.
The prosecution had raised concerns that Mugo had not been attending court sessions, hence delaying the case.
On July 11, Mugo failed to attend trial, prompting the court to issue an arrest warrant.
According to the Star, the accused had presented before the court a document from a health centre that deals with maternity and ultra-sound services, but on Wednesday, the prosecution objected to the documents which alleged he was sick on that day.
The prosecution also said the accused has been delaying the trial by making numerous applications and hence wants him to attend his trial while in custody.
Mugo was charged with 12 counts including rape, sedating his female patients and operating clinic without a licence in October 2015.
He was nabbed after a video recording believed to be of him sedating and raping a female patient at his clinic in Githurai 44, was circulated in the media ans
He was released on Sh5 million bond.
