Muhoho High School was on Monday forced to re-admitt without conditions, a student who allegedly stole a loaf of bread from the institution’s dining hall last week.
This is after Kiambu County Director of education Ali Abdikadir directed the school to do so.
In a letter from the Ministry of Education dated February 19, 2018, Abdikadir asked the institution to follow proper disciplinary measures against the student as laid down in the rules and regulations governing students in schools.
“The child will not have to pay outstanding fees or buy loaves of bread as claimed in the letter suspending the student,” Abdikadir said.
The County Director of Education, however, said the school could take appropriate action against the student for the indiscipline aside from counselling and guiding the student to shun wrong behaviour for his own good.
The Form three student identified as Dennis Mwaura, was ordered to buy 1000 loaves of bread as punishment for allegedly stealing one loaf of bread.
The cost of the punishment was estimated at Sh50,000.
