Muhoroni based Bodaboda operators have been challenged to join Saccos as a way of attaining financial stability.

Imani Sacco Director Catherine Owek said that it is high time Bodaboda operators took control of their earnings rather than spending it carelessly while Saccos offer the best option for them.

Owek who was speaking in Muhoroni, Kisumu County on Monday evening during a recruitment exercise to get more people to join the Sacco said that Saccos are the best solution for low income earners as they enable them meet their needs.

“With Saccos, terms and conditions suit everybody unlike other available forms of banking and with Bodaboda incomes known to be low, I urge many of them to join Saccos,” advised Owek.

She added that members of a Sacco can get loans at lower interest rates no matter how much money they earn.

“Saccos are known to offer loans at lower interest rates, so that nobody feels the pinch when repaying the loans,” said Owek.

During the recruitment exercise, more than 150 Bodaboda operators joined the Imani Sacco which is based in Kisumu county.

Owek said that they are targeting other Bodaboda operators in the entire Western Kenya region.

“We are targeting to recruit more than 500 Bodaboda operators and our next target will be Vihiga County where we will start recruitment next month,” said Owek.
