Muhoroni MP, James Onyango Koyoo, has challenged Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma to use the time left before the next general elections to ensure that devolution is realised and development achieved in the lakeside county.
Speaking at Kisumu Hotel on Wednesday, the legislator said that counties like Kakamega and Machakos were realising the dream of devolution and residents were really benefiting from the county governments.
“I believe that county governments would have given us a new picture in this era of devolution. If you go to Kakamega for instance, and come back to Kisumu you may think it’s a different devolved government,” he said.
He added: “Very little has been done in Kisumu. There is also very little to write about kisumu and this is not a good example especially to other counties in the former Nyanza province.”
Koyoo however added that there was still time for Ranguma’s governance to pull up their socks and ensure that development and devolution is achieved in the county.
The MP asked the county leadership to put an end to the endless wrangles to foster development and unity in the county.
