The Muhoroni Sugar Company has been put under more pressure after farmers demanded their Sh270 million arrears. The farmers threatened to stop supplying the raw material if the management does not pay them the money that has accumulated for seven months.The State-owned company is accused of failing to pay over 23, 000 farmers who hail from Nandi and Kisumu counties. The farmers have blamed the management for their woes, dismissing claims that the receivership status of the company is the cause of the delay.Angry farmers stormed the factory demanding the sacking of receiver managers, claiming that there are hidden scandals making the company alongside Miwani factory to collapse.Kenya Sugarcane Growers Association secretary general Richard Ogenda has accused receiver managers Asa Okoth and Fredrick Kebeney of running down the company. Ogenda argued that the managers are responsible for the problems facing the farmers. He challenged the two to explain where the income generated from the company’s daily operation goes to.“The company harvests canes and crush daily yet they cannot pay us.
