Kenya’s Ambassador Zachary Muburi Muita has been appointed the Executive Secretary of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR).
The appointment was unanimously approved by the Heads of State and Government during Tuesday's session of the 6th ordinary Summit of the ICGLR, in Luanda, Angola.
This comes after the announcement that the Foreign Ministers of the ICGLR had reaffirmed their nomination of the Ambassador.
“Foreign Ministers of the ICGLR have reaffirmed their nomination of Kenya’s candidate, Amb Zachary Muburi-Muita, for the post of the Executive Secretary of ICGLR,” Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed revealed Sunday evening.
President Uhuru Kenyatta thanked the ICGLR member states for supporting Kenya's candidate, while conveying his confidence that Amb Muita’s experience would steer the Secretariat to greater heights.
