An online platform dubbed Mulika Hongo has been launched in Nakuru County to help in the fight against corruption.
This is the first platform to be launched in Nakuru County and across the country where the public will be given an opportunity to report cases via Mulika online app or SMS 22068 under the slogan Ukiona sema, Ukiskia sema Ukishuku sema, Ukinusa sema.
Speaking on Wednesday during the launch, Nakuru County commissioner who is also the chairman of the County Security Committee Joshua Nkanatha called on the public to make good use of the platform in combating corruption.
“We realized that public officers have always been accused of malpractices in the discharge of their duties and that is the perception that we want to finish but we need members of the public to help us,” he said.
Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission South Rift Regional Director Mr. Gilbert Lukhoba who also attended the launch ceremony at Nakuru’s Nyayo garden lauded the initiative.
“This is a good initiative as it will give opportunity to the public to report cases of corruption. As EACC we call on all Kenyans to support the move and make our country corruption free,” said Lukhoba.
According to the national coordinator Mulika Platform Grace Wanjohi, the Mulika Hongo platform has enabled more than 40 eyes to report corruption and any other misconduct.
Ms Wanjohi says the ball now lies with the public whom she appealed to to ensure such malpractices are reported and improve service delivery in public offices.
“The platform has enabled more than 40 eyes to report corruption and any other misconduct. We go to offices many a times as citizens and the duty bearers who should serve us are nowhere. So this platform will enable to put such officers on toes,” she said.
When a report is made to the platform either by using the Mulika App or the sms code or the web interfaces, it is received by over 80 senior security managers.
