Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich has launched a sh1.5 million Ilula water project in Ainabkoi Constituency, Uasin Gishu County.
He said the project will help residents access clean water at their door steps.
"The National government is determined to ensure that every household has access to clean water since it’s their right as enshrined in the constitution," he said at Ilula center after launching the Ilula community water project.
"As a government we are determined to solve water shortage problems across the Country once and for all by drilling more boreholes across the country," he added.
He reiterated that after they have completed water projects in Uasin Gishu County they will move to Nandi and Elgeiyo Marakwet Counties respectively.
He, however, decried poor economic growth due to the political instability that is being witnessed in the country.
"Currently out economic growth has gone down from 7 percent to now 5 percent and things might get worse if nothing is done to calm the situation," noted Rotich.
Area member of parliament William Chepkut said the water project will help residents since they had suffered for ages without water.
"I want to thank the national government for this noble cause and urge them to drill more boreholes in the County," said Chepkut.
