Mulyungi says Raila and Kalonzo's silence on the alleged fresh Sh9 billion scam at the National Youth Service (NYS) betrays their role as opposition leaders.

Speaking to journalists in Mwingi town on Saturday, Mulyungi said Raila and Kalonzo are failing on their role as government watchdogs.

He said the opposition must keep the government in checks to ensure adherence to rule of law and responsible use of public resources.

The Wiper lawmaker stated that the government will not function strictly in line with the law if the opposition is silent.

"Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Muayoka alongside other opposition leaders must tell Kenyans why they have remained silent and allowed the massive graft to go on in Jubilee administration," he said.

Mulyungi claimed Raila's handshake with President Kenyatta months ago could be the reason to why he and other leaders have remained silent.

The MP said that the country risks plunging into economic crisis if the wanton graft is not tamed and asked Kenyans to take up the opposition role and fight against corruption.
