Mumias Sugar Company has received Sh500 million from the national government.

This is ahead of its reopening later this month.

Agriculture CS Willy Bett said they will allow the company to import sugar so that it can generate extra cash.

The Sh500 million will be channeled to paying farmers.

The CS said this during a meeting with the company’s managing director Nashon Aseka, chairman Kennedy Mulwa and Mumias East MP Bernard Washiali.
