A Sunday night inferno has razed down an office at the Mumias Sugar Company in an incident that disrupted operations at the sugar miller.

According to the company Managing Director Nashon Aseka, the fire was caused by an electrical fault.

He lauded the company's fire fighters and those from the Kakamega and Busia counties for timely containing the fire before it spread to other parts.

Confirming the incident, Mumias OCPD Peter Katam said employees of a local college who were occupying a section of the premises were trying to burn litter when the fire eventually spread into the building.
