Cane farmers attached to Mumias Sugar Company (MSC) have accused Opposition leaders of protecting individuals who were involved in the looting of the miller.

Demonstrating along the Mumias-Kakamega road, the farmers told National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders to now forget their vote as majority of the Opposition bigwigs did not support their efforts to prosecute the culprits.

"We want those who looted Mumias to be arrested and prosecuted. NASA is shielding people who stole from Mumias and unless they tell them to pay back what they took, no votes for NASA," said Juvenalis Orao, a farmer.

He lamented that the county government must also explain how some Sh200 million it gave to pay cane farmers was utilised.

"I have supplied the factory with my cane. For two years I have not received any payment yet the county tells us it released money to pay farmers."

Godfrey Lutomia, another farmer, asked Opposition leaders to stop politicising matters that affect cane farmers."We have evidence and the suspects should be arrested. We will demonstrate until they bow to our demands," he said
