Speaking to journalists on Monday, the residents said that during the last El~Nino rains, the area experienced more than five landslides that left behind a lot of destruction.

"Since the rain started last week we have known no peace because we don't know where the landslides may occur," James Kibe, a resident said.

Nancy Wambui said that they are fearing for their children's safety who have to go down the steep valleys when going to school.

"There are areas of my tea farm where I can't pluck tea for fear of a landslide," James Mukuha said.

Mundoro Chief Justus Wambugu has however, asked residents to avoid areas that were last hit by the landslides.

"We do not know with certainty where the landslides might happen but we have instructed residents to move from areas likely to be hit. We need a concerted effort between the two levels of government to come in and provide some technical assistance", said Wambugu.
