Nakuru County senator James Mungai has hit out at the county government over what he called mismanaging funds.
Speaking Sunday in Nakuru town, Mungai challenged the county to explain how it had spent Sh 23.2 billion which it received from the national government saying their management of such funds was grossly flawed.
He also pointed out the recent report by the controller of budget which showed that the county owes suppliers and contractors a debt amounting to Sh 2.46 billion as an indicator that the county was misusing funds.
"Why should the county government fail to pay its suppliers and contractors when money was released by the national government to address such issues," he said.
Mungai who has since expressed his desire to run for the county gubernatorial position also decried the poor state of roads in the county saying it was hindering development.
He said he has been forced to hire graders to improve their state.
