Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung'aro has urged Coast residents to vote for President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto in the August polls.

Mung’aro said Coast residents were not born to die fighting for a 'losing team'.

“Coast people were not meant to be in the opposition when they were born. It is not written in their birth certificates that they should die in the opposition. I believe time is ripe for them to leave Cord for Jubilee,” he said, as quoted by The Star.

The MP also expressed confidence that Jubilee will trounce Cord in the next general election regardless of the strategy they apply.

He further called upon residents to turn out in large numbers and register as voters in a bid to support Uhuru's re-election bid.

“We are planning to win big this time. Our message is simple, voters should just make a comparison of what Cord, under its leader Raila Odinga, has done and what the President has done,” he added.

Both Cord leader Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta are relying on the support of Coast residents to win the upcoming polls.
